Tina Lazzarine is a second year MFA candidate in the Metal Design program at East Carolina University. In 2006 she graduated summa cum laude from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Art History and a BFA in Metal Design.

Inspired by nature, Lazzarine fabricates organic forms that often reference cyclic growth, whether it is in familial relationships or the continual self-discovery that occurs in one’s own becoming. Her method of working intuitively gives her work an inherently natural adaptive quality, reinforcing the idea of an evolutionary process. While designating herself as a metalsmith, she has recently found herself exploring textiles and discovering its potency as an art form, giving the domestic sewing skills she was taught at an early age a new dimension.

A Niche student award winner (2006), Lazzarine exhibits her work nationally and images of her enamel work have been part of an exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey and Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia. Her recent work is traveling between three Tennessee venues as part of the Enamelist Society’s Alchemy exhibition and is featured in Lark Books upcoming Heat, Color, Set, and Fire. She has taught at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in Pennsylvania and the Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge in Greenville, North Carolina where she presently resides.
